Rahul Gandhi Holds Karnataka Leadership Decision Amid Reports

Rahul Gandhi has put on hold any decision regarding a change in Karnataka’s state leadership after receiving feedback on potential repercussions.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has put on hold any decision regarding a change in Karnataka’s state leadership after receiving feedback on potential repercussions. Reports from multiple sources, including election strategist Sunil Kanugol, indicate that the timing may not be suitable for altering the state government’s leadership.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has yet to meet Rahul Gandhi, while Siddaramaiah supporters, including MLC BK Hariprasad and Minister KJ George, recently met him to voice opposition to any leadership change. RDPR and IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge also held discussions with Rahul, though details remain undisclosed.

AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge recently noted that leadership confusion is limited to the Karnataka unit and does not involve the high command. Senior party leaders KC Venugopal and Randeep Singh Surjewala are preoccupied with Kerala and Haryana, leaving the Karnataka decision solely with Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul is expected to travel to Europe after the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Delhi on December 27, returning only after January 10. Until then, no decision regarding a cabinet reshuffle or change in chief minister is anticipated.

Siddaramaiah is set to surpass D. Devaraj Urs’s record as the longest-serving Karnataka CM on January 6, completing 7 years and 238 days, and is expected to present his 17th state budget.
