Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Chennai on June 20th to inaugurate the Vande Bharat train service from Egmore railway station to Nagercoil. This visit marks his first to Tamil Nadu since assuming office for the third time. The new daily service between Egmore and Nagercoil addresses the long-standing demand from passengers for increased frequency on this route. Following recommendations from the Southern Railway Administration, the Railway Board approved the daily operation.
