Modi’s May 10 Hyderabad Visit: Rs 7,800Cr Projects, GHMC Launchpad

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Hyderabad on May 10, marking his first trip to Telangana since taking office for a third term.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Hyderabad on May 10, marking his first trip to Telangana since taking office for a third term. The BJP calls it a “festival of development”—and with good reason. Modi’s schedule includes inaugurating and laying foundation stones for projects valued at around Rs 7,800 crore, a massive push for the region’s infrastructure.

But the visit is about more than just cutting ribbons. At the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad, Modi plans to address a huge public gathering—the ‘Janagraha Sabha.’ For the BJP, this event is the kickoff for its campaign ahead of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections.

Key Inaugurations and Foundation Stones

During his time in Telangana, Modi will dedicate a range of new projects to the public. There’s a focus on four major areas: infrastructure, industry, energy, and education.

The infrastructure announcements are big. He’ll launch highway projects worth Rs 3,175 crore in Mahabubnagar and open a third railway line between Kazipet and Vijayawada, a Rs 1,243-crore project. Modi will also inaugurate new railway stations at Hafeezpet and Jogulamba, plus the next phase of the Secunderabad–Yadadri MMTS, bringing extended rail service to Yadagirigutta. The foundation stone for the Mamnoor airport will go down as well.

In the energy and industrial sector, Modi will virtually open a new petroleum terminal at Mallapur, built for Rs 611 crore, with large-scale storage for transport fuels. He’ll also launch the PM MITRA Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal—an ambitious Rs 1,695-crore effort the government expects will employ nearly 100,000 people.

On the healthcare and education front, the Prime Minister will cut the ribbon for upgraded medical facilities at AIIMS Bibinagar. He’ll formally start work for the Rs 1,000-crore Sammakka–Sarakka Central Tribal University, and the Rs 400-crore National Science Centre is on the list to begin soon.

Political Significance and Preparations

Politically, the timing is crucial for the BJP in Telangana. Since the last election, party membership surged, with about four million new members joining. The Secunderabad meeting isn’t just a crowd-pleaser. It’s a signal—the start of the BJP’s campaign for the GHMC and two other key municipal corporations in the Hyderabad area. Party leadership is aggressively mobilizing, aiming to fill the Parade Grounds by reaching out statewide, especially to women and young voters across all 150 GHMC wards. Special trains and motorcycle rallies will bring supporters in from far and wide, but the spotlight is firmly on Hyderabad itself.

A Festival of Development

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, who’s also the Secunderabad MP, told the press that the central government is placing Telangana’s growth front and center. “The big jump in our vote share and the way the BJP is growing from village to district level—these show how much people trust Modi’s leadership. Just in railways alone, projects worth Rs 85,000 crore are in progress across Telangana,” Reddy said. Of course, with a visit on this scale, security will be tight. Hyderabad and Secunderabad are already gearing up with new traffic plans and a heavy police presence as the city prepares for the Prime Minister’s arrival.
