Trump Delays Iran Strike Amid Fresh Negotiations

According to Trump, leaders from Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates urged him to hold back the strike effort.

Donald Trump said he has postponed a planned military strike on Iran that was expected on Tuesday, citing ongoing “serious negotiations” and appeals from Gulf allies.

In a social media statement on Monday, Trump said he had directed the U.S. military to stay ready for a possible large-scale attack if an acceptable agreement is not reached with Tehran. He did not reveal further details about the proposed operation.

Over the weekend, Trump had warned Iran that time was running out to secure a deal or face renewed conflict after the fragile ceasefire reached in mid-April.

According to Trump, leaders from Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates urged him to hold back the strike effort.

Trump has repeatedly issued deadlines to Tehran in recent weeks before stepping back from immediate military action. He also recently held discussions on the Iran situation with Benjamin Netanyahu and Xi Jinping.
