PM Modi to Unveil Thiruvananthapuram Vision, Flag Off New Trains

The prime minister will be on a one-day visit to the state, during which he will also inaugurate key railway projects.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to begin the BJP’s election campaign in the state on Friday by unveiling a comprehensive development roadmap for the state capital, titled Viksit Ananthapuri. The prime minister will be on a one-day visit to the state, during which he will also inaugurate key railway projects.

Modi is scheduled to arrive in Thiruvananthapuram at around 10 am and will be welcomed with a roadshow through the city. His first official engagement will be a Railways-organised function at Putharikandam Maidan, where he will flag off four new trains for the state. These include three Amrit Bharat sleeper services, aimed at improving long-distance connectivity and passenger comfort.

Later in the day, the prime minister will attend a BJP-organised public programme at a separate venue on the same grounds. The party is mobilising over 25,000 workers from across the state to ensure a large turnout. BJP leaders indicated that Modi is likely to mount a sharp political offensive against both the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the opposition United Democratic Front (UDF), particularly over the Sabarimala gold theft controversy.

According to party officials, Modi will formally release the development blueprint prepared by the BJP-led city corporation for Thiruvananthapuram. The plan, outlining the city’s development vision up to 2030, will be handed over to Mayor V.V. Rajesh. BJP state president K. Surendran said the prime minister will also elaborate on the party’s campaign theme, which focuses on faith, protection from communal forces, and the goal of a developed Kerala.

The blueprint has been prepared with inputs from BJP councillors, including contributions from party workers in wards where the BJP did not succeed in the last local body elections.
