The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced new dates for several key examinations amid ongoing allegations of irregularities. The UGC-NET, initially conducted on June 18 but later cancelled, will now take place from August 21 to September 4. The exam was scrapped following reports to the education ministry that its integrity had been compromised, with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan revealing that the question paper was leaked on the darknet and circulated via the Telegram app.

Unlike the recent offline single-day format, the rescheduled UGC-NET will revert to the Computer Based Test (CBT) format spread across multiple days.

Additionally, the CSIR UGC-NET, which was postponed as a precautionary measure, is now scheduled for July 25 to July 27. The National Common Entrance Test (NCET), which was postponed just hours before its original date on June 12, will be conducted on July 10.. The NTA's prompt action aims to address the concerns raised and ensure the integrity of these crucial examinations. Amid scrutiny over alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG medical entrance examination and the NET PhD entrance exam, the Centre announced a panel last week to ensure transparent, smooth, and fair conduct of exams by the NTA.
