New Era for Nepal: Sushila Karki as the Aspiration of the Youth

Nepal's politics are gaining global interest as steps are taken to hand over leadership to former Chief Justice Sushila Karki.

Events in Nepal's politics have become a subject of global interest. Steps are being taken to hand over the country's leadership to Justice Sushila Karki, the former Chief Justice of the country's Supreme Court. The youth of Nepal believe that she should be appointed as the head of the interim government. While a few other names are also in the running, Sushila's name is the most prominent.

In a tumultuous Nepal, efforts are underway to form an interim government. The struggle initiated by the youth against the ban on social media led to the resignation of Nepal's Prime Minister, KP Sharma Oli. 'Generation Z' has started online consultations to decide who should be selected as the head of the interim government, and the youth are sharing their opinions.

As per media reports, many of Nepali youth are suggesting that Sushila Karki should be appointed as the interim Prime Minister. She enjoys immense popularity among the youth. In a recent virtual meeting, more than 5,000 people participated. The majority voted in favour of the proposal to appoint Justice Sushila Karki as the head of the interim government. Initially, the name of Kathmandu's Mayor, Balen Shah, was also discussed. Representatives of Generation Z said that despite multiple attempts, they could not reach him. Meanwhile, support for Karki is growing day by day.

It is reported that when the youth requested Sushila Karki to take charge of the interim government, she asked them to collect and show her at least 1,000 signatures in her support. The number of signatures in her favour has now reached 2,500. While Sushila Karki is leading the race, a few other names are also being discussed, including Kul Man Ghising, Chief of Nepal Electricity Authority; youth leader Sagar Dhakal; and Harka Sampang, Mayor of Dharan City. The name of Ran Dom Nepali, a prominent Nepali YouTuber, is also being mentioned. However, he stated that he would consider it only if no one else comes forward to lead the interim government.

It is reported that the process for Sushila Karki's appointment would be a major affair. Experts say that she would first have to meet with the Nepal Army Chief, General Ashok Raja Sigdel, and then with President Ram Chandra Paudel to secure their support.
