The Enforcement Directorate (ED) revealed that it has seized properties valued at ₹365 crore as part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged teacher recruitment scam in West Bengal. According to the agency's statement released on Friday, three members of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), including former education minister Partha Chatterjee, have been arrested in connection with the scam. Additionally, TMC Member of Parliament Abhishek Banerjee has been questioned in relation to the case.

The statement further detailed that new immovable properties worth ₹230.6 crore have been temporarily seized. These properties include land plots and a flat registered under the names of Prasanna Kumar Roy and Santi Prasad Sinha, as well as the companies they were associated with. It is alleged that Roy collected funds from job candidates, while Sinha served as an advisor to the West Bengal School Service Commission at the time of the incidents.

The investigation was initiated following a directive from the Calcutta High Court in May 2022, which ordered a federal investigation into alleged irregularities in the recruitment process for state-run schools.
